Summer Camp Fever!

Summer is approaching quickly, not quick enough I'm sure for the students from schools who had to stay later due to the abundance of snow days.  It's a time to break free and to do some experiential learning! Children who come to RNC camps get a real world, hands-on experience, interacting in different ways with their peers in a safe and fun environment.  This blog will have posts from our eleven locations, so stay tuned!

I'm very excited to introduce Herman the Worm and his friends to our campers this summer. The worms are red wiggler worms, or trout worms and they reside in vermin-composting bins. Children will help feed the worms by bringing in food scraps from home. The worms will then turn the food scraps into fertile soil that can then be used to grow food.  The soil at Whittemore will be used for our Children's Garden. Produce from the garden will go to local food banks, group homes and senior centers.

Stay tuned for pics of GUS THE GOOSE, Whittemore's new resident
