First Week-A Success!

We had a first great week at camp at the Landis Woods in Manheim Township, PA as well as Fenimore Woods in Radnor, PA.  When I came by to visit, I received smiles all around!  In both locations, we ran Jurassic in the Park in the morning and PaleoWorld in the afternoon. The teachers and campers really brought the programs to life. I kept on looking over my shoulder, expecting to see a T-Rex....

paleontologists to a dig site

Some of my favorite parent quotes from our evals:

"Very educational and fun. My child had a great time-great projects. The instructors were great with the kids. Kind and approachable for the kids. The site was perfect-Love the Woods!" (Manheim)

"Ray was an excellent teacher, thoughtful and very 'in-tune' to the kids" (Manheim)

"Awesome! You run great programs! My son couldn't wait for "Dinosaur Camp" everyday! he loved the stream! And hikes were great too!" (radnor)

This week, we have our 2nd week of camp in Manheim as well as our first weeks in Lower Makefield and the RNC Headquarters in Oldwick, NJ.  I've been lucky enough to help out at the camp here for Jurassic and Paleo-I can't wait to dig for bones and make dino dioramas!

Summer Camp Fever!

Summer is approaching quickly, not quick enough I'm sure for the students from schools who had to stay later due to the abundance of snow days.  It's a time to break free and to do some experiential learning! Children who come to RNC camps get a real world, hands-on experience, interacting in different ways with their peers in a safe and fun environment.  This blog will have posts from our eleven locations, so stay tuned!

I'm very excited to introduce Herman the Worm and his friends to our campers this summer. The worms are red wiggler worms, or trout worms and they reside in vermin-composting bins. Children will help feed the worms by bringing in food scraps from home. The worms will then turn the food scraps into fertile soil that can then be used to grow food.  The soil at Whittemore will be used for our Children's Garden. Produce from the garden will go to local food banks, group homes and senior centers.

Stay tuned for pics of GUS THE GOOSE, Whittemore's new resident
